it is said to be a dangerous part of town, but not more than other downtowns, and there's a service of security to walk with us if needed, so no worries! great kitchen!

This area of Winnipeg is kind of grim, but the hostel is nice. It's quite basic - you won't get a lot of bells and whistles - but the pub is pretty nice, the cafe has basic but good food (which is cheap), the staff are really friendly and helpful, and the beds are firm and good. It was pretty quiet while I was there, which I appreciated. I don't have any complaints - except that it does seem a little pricey (but this was the first hostel I'd stayed in for 10 years).

The dorm room was a bit cold at night and it would be good to have a few mats in the room. The kitchen area was very clean and spacious. A few more comfortable chairs in the lounge area would be good.
