The atmosphere in the Hostel is super and it is a great place to pass a weak.Just kitchen and bathrooms could be a little bit cleaner

Pleasant location by the beach surrounded by Loyola University dormitories, a short distance from downtown by car. The staff was nice as was the parking lot in the back. Definitely not bad considering the price and location.

Don't recommend, too far out of the way.

By US standards Chicago is a difficult city to find a Hostel in. This hostel is close to the loyola campus. Beware for the loud noises of the metro in the morning!!

I really enjoyed my stay at the CIH. While the location is a bit far from downtown, the train station is nearby. The major benefit of this hostel is that it truly is international; you have the opportunity to meet many people from overseas. The staff was very friendly, and I sat outside talking to visitors and staff alike every night. While the rooms were a bit hot at night, fans were provided and it didn't prevent me from sleeping. There did seem to be a frequent problem of people finding other people sleeping in their beds, but this was due to confusion over bed assignment (beds in rooms are not assigned) when some room mates were away from the hostel. While some may lament having to wear shower shoes and bringing their own toilet paper, this is what I am used to when I travel and I don't have a problem with it. Plus, the bathrooms (the one I used on the second floor) were not filled with mold and whatnot, as some reviews have claimed. Overall, I loved the hostel and found it very inviting. I would have liked to stay closer to the downtown area, but the price is good and so are the people. I would definitely stay at the Chicago International Hostel. In my opinion, the only people who wouldn't are those who apparently don't know the difference between a hostel and a hotel.
