As an avid hosteller and backpacker who's stayed in all sorts of places all around the world, I can unequivocally say Amigo in Taipei was the WORST place I've ever stayed in my life. Let me explain why without any hyperbole: 1. Filthy. Sheets weren't clean (you could see the dirt), bathrooms were disgusting and smoking was allowed inside. 2. Loud. No quiet times meant drunk tourists were up all night talking and playing loud music. The walls of each room don't go all the way to the ceiling, so the place is like one big room. 3. Uncomfortable. No mattresses, just a thick blanket on a wooden plank. 4. Dishonest staff. We made a reservation online for New Years Eve, only to find out the owner booked another person in our spot. He had all of our paperwork, but said the only thing he could do was give us a room in the dorm. Didn't even apologize. 5. Expensive. If your one that's willing to save on comfort to save a dime like me, this still isn't your place. Other hostels in Taipei are actually decent and cost less. My friend and I left at 2:00 in the morning on the second night there because we couldn't get any sleep (the loud music). We decided spending the night sleeping at the airport was better than staying there - and it really was. Again, I'm not at all a travel complainer. But, whatever you do, don't make the same mistake we made in choosing Amigo in Taipei.

Our \"private twin bed room\" had a curtain as a door and was more like a cardboard box. But the \"walls\" didn\'t even reach the ceiling. This box was inside a dorm in the basement, and we could hear everything. The blankets were dirty and dusty and the dogs were directly at the windows. They barked all night and the chain rattled.. poor little things! Oh well, and the little cute pig suffered from neurodermatitis.. Incredible India offered us better rooms!

this place is depressing and the manager is a gangster trying to get some extra dollars out of everything.
