Oh dear. When we arrived our room was still being used and very dirty and cluttered. However it turned out that apart from the bags all the clutter had been left from previous guests, including a box of stuff labelled "Claire and Ben August 2007". So clearly the rooms hadn't been properly cleaned since before then....not that the staff appeared to give a toss. Having evicted other people's stuff from our room we later found out that another guest had been given a "free night" to do what we had

Lots of rooms, so it's very crowded. 2 minutes walk to the beach. They should do more cleaning and some refurbishment in the bathrooms. When we arrived they had lost our booking so we had to share 2 beds for 3 people the first night. No free lockers, you'll have to extra pay for everything. Breakfast only pancakes all day, and only if you're fast enough to grab some before 9am or so. Overall rating is ok, but there are way better hostels in St. Kilda.
