Hi!
We are Nacho and Martin, two friends who met while traveling around Ireland in 2006. When we returned home to Uruguay, we decided to open a hostel that would offer world travelers all the comforts of home.
After two years of meeting extraordinary people and sharing unforgettable moments at Pocitos Hostel in Montevideo - a gratifying experience for us both - we decided to expand our business and open a new hostel in the charming city of Colonia del Sacramento. And so Sur Hostel was born.
After an exhausting search, we found the perfect refurbished home, complete with ample, well-lit rooms, a cozy common space with a fireplace and a spacious terrace with a typical Uruguayan grill for barbequing.
Colonia is a quaint and beautiful city, rich in cultural heritage, where one can enjoy a walk down the cobble-stoned streets of the old district, climb to the top of the lighthouse to admire the panoramic views, ride a bike to the historic Plaza de Toros or simply take a relaxing dip at one of the lovely local beaches.
The natural beauty of Colonia makes it an ideal location for our hostel. We have specially selected our staff to maintain the friendly hospitality that we are best known for and they will always be there to accommodate your needs. Between the delightful ambiance and the dedication of our incredible staff, your visit to Colonia is sure to be a magical experience. We hope Sur Hostel will be your new �home away from home�.

Fine for one night, decent hostel with decent kitchen.However, really really noisy if you got a room by the street on a Friday or Saturday night.The lockers are quite small. Sophie, from England ~ 1st Apr 2013

Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Room and bathrooms clean. Plenty of bathrooms even though the place was almost full. Stayed on New Years when they had a big, tasty barbecue. Wifi worked well in common areas though not in our room. Good location, easy walking distance from town.
