Enjoying a stunning elevated position overlooking the Bay of Funchal, this charming family-run hotel provides guests with a confortable, good-value base from which to explore Madeira's many attractions.
The rooms are simply and brightly decorated with wooden floors. Although most rooms are quite basic, in that they do not have TV's, mini-bars or kettles,they all have private bathrooms with plenty of hot water, fresh towels and daily maid service.
The property also benefits from a small pool, a TV lounge, a micro spa offering excellent professional massage facilities at low cost, and a WiFi zone. the Reception and bar area are manned 24 hours a day.
The hotel's Flame Tree Restaurant serves modern, inventive Portuguese cuisine, focusing on local ingredients. Meals can be taken on the attractive dining terrace or in the cosy dining room. Half-Board terms are available and represent outstanding value for money. Bar snacks, sandwiches and salads are also served throughout the day.

The Restaurant has an A la carte menu, supplemented with Daily Specials, focusing on more regional cuisine. It is open at lunchtime and between 18:00 and 23:00 in the evening. Set prices are available for 2 and 3 courses. Half-Board terms represent superb value for money and are offered from just € 15 per person per day, which allows access to both the A la carte menu and Daily Specials.

The rooms in the \"villa\" are very basic, but we were offered an \"upgrade\" and got one oft the rooms of the main building with a balcony to the front with a superb view over the sea and the bay of Funchal. Rooms are small but clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is basic and boring, however they have good meals in the hostels flame tree restaurant.
