Welcome to the coolest place to stay in London.
Smart Russell Square is the perfect hostel to reach any destination in London with ease, as it's right in the centre of London and very close to main bus routes and the London Underground. You'll have 24 hour access to the world famous city. And if you'd rather stay in the hostel, with our friendly atmosphere there's always fun and interesting people to meet and exchange travel stories with.
Our hostel also has some unique features and facilities for you to enjoy. The first thing you'l notice is our custom-made Pod Beds. These beds don't just offer you a place to rest your head, but they also have privacy screens and a light-blocking curtain so you can sleep in complete privacy and comfort, any time of the day. Linen and duvet are included in our rates for free.
Another unique feature about our hostel is the large communal areas for meeting and hanging out with people, including an enormous common room with two big-screen TVs , comfy seating and sofas, a pool table and several vending machines, offering a wide range of snack food and drinks and travel accessories to make your stay more comfortable.
We also have FREE WI-FI for all you 'flashpackers' that like to take your laptops and gadgets on your travels. We offer currency exchange and on-site self-service laundry facilities.
In order to reduce the waiting time for showers we have put all our showers in one place. This has solved the problem of queuing as there is always a shower available for you to use, with hot water 24hrs a day. There are also changing rooms with free lockers you can use while you're showering.
Another advantage of this prime location is that we're only a short walk away from some of London's most famous tourist attractions, including the British Museum, Oxford Street and Soho . And if you're planning to travel further into Europe, we're also only a short walk from St Pancras International train station where you can catch the Eurostar to Paris and beyond.
Very close to the hostel is the world famous Camden Market , a selection of night clubs, and every Saturday the local shopping complex hosts a World Food Market .
Our friendly staff are happy to offer free tourist information and 24hr assistance. If you plan to visit the attractions of London, save yourself time and money by purchasing your attraction tickets right from our reception. Security is something we take very seriously, to ensure that you and your belonging are secure. We have 24hr reception and a state of the art key-card system that allows you to just wave your key at your door to get in. And if you would like to use a locker, we can program your key to operate that too. Lockers are located under the Pod Beds so you'll never be far from your belongings.
We also have Security Officers operating at night on the door and 24hr CCTV to ensure that the hostel is as safe as possible.
We welcome all ages, but we recommend guests from 16-45 years in shared accommodation. We require guests under 12 to be booked into private accommodation.

Very close to the Russell Square tube station, and an easy walk (10 minutes?) toTottenham Court station, which is near Oxford Street for shopping, and not far from Leicester Square area for theatre. I slept on the top bed in a 3 bed-bunk in a 9-bed mixed dorm. There were curtains on each bed, so there still is some degree of privacy.. just a lot of climbing :) There are lockers in each room, but you have to rent a key card for them and you wouldn't be able to use your own lock. This was the most expensive hostel I stayed in while traveling Europe. Though the location is wonderful, it does not make up for the cramped rooms, poor shower facilities, terrible wifi service, and lack of hooks/shelves. Even though I brought my own lock, you have to pay for the lockers. Our room was in the basement. I got sick my first night there and slept terribly. I am usually a very low-maintenance girl, but i have higher standards than this. Keep looking, you can do better for your money. Christina, from USA ~ 15th Jun 2013
