We are so very proud, after almost a year of working non-stop and tirelessly, to bring you our very own first, independent hostel in a great location in Shoreditch, London. The Dictionary, Shoreditch.
Having worked for a large chain of hostels for almost a decade, owners Peter and Eliska Finlay have finally managed to find the perfect building in a vibrant, young and creative part of London. Shoreditch in East London, is set on the edge of the city and sits where East London meets Central London. Where the hostel is now there used to be an old veneer warehouse and has a wonderful industrial feel, although we have completely rewired and replumbed everything.
Translate is our cafe bar downstairs, cafe by day and bar by night with a chilled out vibe and we are all so enthusiastic and friendly and very eager to open our place up to you.
What will you get when you stay with The Dictionary, Shoreditch?
You will receive our very best attention to make sure that you have a brilliant stay with us. We want to impress you and we want to make you feel welcome. Our rooms range from shared dorms of 4 to 12 bed dorms and our private rooms consist of twins and doubles. All the rooms have lockable baskets underneath the bunks where you can store your luggage. There is free wi-fi for all our guests in our cafe and a tiny smoking courtyard just next to it.
We're very laid-back and enthusiastic to help make your stay as lovely as possible. However, as we have a licensed premises we can't accept guests under 18 years of age.
It's set in an old veneer factory in trendy East London and boasts an industrial bar, ensuite bedrooms, brand-new refurbished rooms and an eco-friendly approach to life.
Welcoming you with open arms are experienced and enthusiastic owners and a handful of friendly staff who all work together to make sure you have the best stay you can have in London!
We're open 24 hours of the day, all year long. Please note: We cater to the 18-35 year old market Check-in: 2pm Check-out: 10am We provide free luggage storage. A light breakfast is included.

Your staff is very friendly and helpful. Due to renovation it was a bit crowded and complicated to get through from reception to my room, but renovations are temporary so I was willing to look past it for the time being. The rest of the hostel was up to standard and I really liked staying there. Will definitely be back if needing a hostel in the central London area. Jenny, from Sweden ~ 17th Jun 2013
