Our city focus this week looks to Auckland on New Zealand’s North Island.
Auckland is New Zealand’s biggest city and home to some amazing scenery and beaches thanks to its coastal position. Its nickname is the 'City of Sails' and around it you will find bays, islands and volcanic hills. If you’re into water sports Auckland makes for the perfect playground with swimming, diving, windsurfing, sailing and more on offer. And for staying on dry land make sure you check out the views from the top of Mount Eden and One Tree Hill, both of which are volcanic structures.
Auckland is also a great spot for entertainment to suit all tastes. Some of the best bars and restaurants in New Zealand can be found in Auckland. If you want to visit some of Auckland’s top venues make your way to K’Rd at the top of Queen Street for a great selection of clubs and bars. There’s also the Downtown area and the waterfront for some cool bars and cafes, as well as live music.
And for the best places to stay in Auckland after enjoying all that entertainment book your stay in Auckland in one of these top rated hostels: Ponsonby Backpackers or Lantana Lodge International Backpackers.
