City Focus: Lisbon

Our city focus turns to Lisbon, Portugal this week as we take a quick look at this popular city by the coast. The city of Lisbon is an attraction in itself as it is a beautiful coastal city with magnificent architecture and charming streets. The Portuguese capital is full of colour and attractions which date back to hundreds of years ago.

History plays an important role in Lisbon with one of its most popular attractions being the historic centre. Visit a neighbourhood like the Bairro Alto to get a taste of what a historical and charming Lisbon neighbourhood has to offer. Around Bairro Alto you will find cosy bars, restaurants and boutiques along with a great atmosphere.

Lisbon is packed full of culture too so make sure you check out some of the museums and events. Lisbon is also the home of the traditional ‘fado’ – a historic form of song and music that is still popular in Lisbon. Fado is unique to Lisbon so don’t miss out on hearing some of this amazing music.

There are also some of the world’s top hostels on offer in Lisbon so book your bed in one of these for a great stay. Pick between Travellers HouseLisboa Central Hostel or Lisbon Lounge Hostel.
