Dates for your diary: April 2010

If you're looking for something to do or to celebrate this April then take your pick of these April events!

National Poetry Month - April is National Poetry Month which first originated in the USA. It was brought about as a means of getting everyone to appreciate poetry. There are many events over the USA for this so get out there and get appreciating some poetry!

World Health Day - April 7th is World Health Day under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO). Every year a certain health topic is picked and focus is put on this area.

Boston Marathon - April 19th will see runners from all over the world line up to take part in the Boston Marathon. This is the oldest marathon in the world and if you're a bit of an athlete then this is for you. And even if you're not then go along and support all those who are hard at it running around the city of Boston! St. George's Day - April 23rd is when the patron saint of England is celebrated. In England St. George's Day parades are held in many towns and many businesses promote this day all over the country.

Anzac Day - This is a national day of remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, and is commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year. Anzac Day broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for their countries.
