Why you can still treat your valentine to a romantic weekend even on a budget
Whether you acknowledge the annual celebration of Valentine's Day or not, you cannot escape its existence. A lot of people see it as an extra expense that isn't needed. However, this romantic day needn't be a thorn in your side because of money!
Why should you go anywhere?
Think of the culture you will experience if you see it as a city break. Cheap flights are also more readily available now to various destinations and accommodation in hostels can save you lots while still offering a stylish stay in a great location. Another option is to not travel during Valentine's Day but perhaps the days leading up to it or afterwards.
Where should you go?
There are many cities in the world that are regarded as 'romantic' - the most popular being Paris in France. But even in Paris you can get some great deals at many restaurants - it's important to do your research beforehand. Have a look at some of these suggestions for inspiration.
Paris, France: The romantic capital of the world. Climb the Eiffel Tower, visit Moulin Rouge or sail down the Seine.
Stay: Vintage Hostel Gare du Nord - Privates from $27.14 per night
Marrakech, Morocco: It has been called the 'red' city and what colour do we relate love to? It's obvious this should be a city for lovers.
Stay: Riad Itry - Privates from $6.50 per night
Goa, India: Peaceful and tranquil, walking hand in hand along one of the wonderful beaches. Or if this isn't your idea of fun, even on a romantic break, then there is also plenty of nightlife to experience.
Stay: Castle House - Privates from $15.01 per night
Buenos Aires, Argentina: With the slow Argentine Waltz and more fierce Tango just two well known dances from this Latin city, it would be hard to ignore the opportunity for romance here.

Venice, Italy: A trip on a gondola is all you need to make this a romantic weekend to remember. You can even get your captain to serenadey you if that's not too soppy.
Stay: Venice Lagoon House - Privates from $15.36 per night
