London for free
Having just spent the last few days visiting all the sights in a very cold London I thought I'd share some of my visit with you. There will be lots more on my trip over on www.hostels.com in the coming days and weeks, including some very exciting new City Guides, but for now here's just a quick blog post!
One of my biggest surprises on my trip to London was the amount of free things you can do over there. Like any city, London can be very expensive if you want to spend all around you, but for the budget backpacker London can be very accessible. One of my favourite things about London is that most of their museums and galleries offer free admission all the time. I happened to be there at the start of mid-term so you can imagine that the queues were very long! But it's great to see this excellent service and attraction being used and appreciated by so many. Just hop on the tube to South Kensington and there you will find the Natural History Museum and Science Museum where you could easily spend the day.
The Tate Modern can be found along another great free thing to do and that's a walk down along London's South Bank where some of the city's top attractions can be found. If you get a nice day in London you can also take advantage of all the great parks and squares around the city such as Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square to name but a few. And if you want to soak up some of London's atmosphere then go for a look around one of London's many markets such as Camden Lock market or Portobello Road markets.
So if you want to take a trip to London then don't fret over the possible expense of it because with the right planning it really is possible to see this great city while on a budget. And keep your trip prices down even more so with the many cheap hostels in London that can be booked here.
