Travel Tip: Chicago style pizza restaurants
We love visiting Chicago for many reasons, but when it comes to food and Chicago we`ve only one thing to say... well, actually three - Chicago style Pizza! Here at Hostels.com HQ we have a few avid pizza fans where the thoughts of Chicago’s deep dish pizza has them booking their next visit to the Mid-West. Here we take a look at some of Chicago’s most restaurants for sampling popular deep dish pizza.
Uno Chicago Grill
Uno’s prides itself on being the home of Chicago Deep Dish Pizza as it is where this much loved pizza began. Uno Chicago Grill first opened its doors in 1943 at the corner of Ohio Street and Wabash Avenue. Today it still serves up some of the tastiest deep dish pizza in Chicago.
Giordano’s is where you will find some of Chicago’s tastiest stuffed pizza. The deep dish pizza on offer at Giordano’s comes from a recipe created by the Italian mother of the two brothers who opened the restaurant. This world famous stuffed pizza comes in whole host of varieties and is a must on your pizza tasting tour of Chicago.
The Original Gino`s East
The Original Gino’s East Pizzeria dates back to 1966 where the first restaurant opened its doors just off Michigan Ave. and Superior St., and it was an instant hit with locals and visitors to the city. Today, the pizza at Gino`s East and it’s other branches remains the same tasty pizza packed full of you choice of ingredients.
The first Lou Malnati`s opened in Lincolnwood in 1971, and thanks to this tasty Chicago-style deep dish pizza, you will find branches of this restaurant in many ocations around the Chicago area. It is still a family run business and prides itself on using only the finest and freshest ingredients for their much-loved pizza.
