Walk the walk
Many travellers and tourists will often tell you that the best way to see the most of a new city is to walk around it. However, in some cities around the world walking around them can be either an enjoyable stroll or a problematic task. When it comes to sightseeing certain cities are just easier to navigate on foot. Exploring a city by walking not only allows you to see some of the best sights but it can also help you to discover some hidden gems along the way. It’s also a great means of saving money on transport on your trip as well as reducing your carbon footprint!
Here’s our pick of some great walking cities that we’ve visited.
If you are planning a visit to Paris, France then make sure you bring some comfortable shoes! There’s so much to see all over Paris and one of the best ways to see all of this is walking. Divide the cities into areas, grab your map and you will be guaranteed to see the best of the Paris.
New York City is another place that makes our list when it comes to our favourite cities to walk around. The streets of New York are very easy to navigate so get your map out and explore all of the neighbourhoods of New York.
Staying stateside, Boston, Massachusetts is a beautiful and scenic city that offers something new at every corner. Boston is a really enjoyable city to walk around as you stroll through the Public Garden and Boston Common and make your way towards Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
Rome, Italy is another city that comes to mind when we think of cities that are good to walk around. The transport system in Rome is excellent, however if your are visiting Rome for the first time and want to see all that the city has to offer, then walking through the ancient streets really is the best way. When you walk through Rome you stumble upon some amazing buildings, churches and monuments that can sometimes get overshadowed by the many bigger attractions of the city.
