According to the organisation, more than two million people have plans to get away this Christmas, with the busiest day for travel expected to be on December 23rd (although the 17th and 18th of the month were supposed to be fairly hectic as well).
And Abta chief executive Mark Tanzer is clearly an advocate of escaping it all during the colder months.
He's said: "Holidays - especially at this time of yea r- can provide happy, lifelong memories and an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends."
But Amsterdam isn't the only place that's calling to UK residents, particularly as Britain has suddenly seen a cold snap and is rather like walking on a big ball of ice right now. Other destinations of interest include Egypt, Turkey, Tenerife, Dubai and the Caribbean.
However, if you decide that Amsterdam is right for you, then you can't go wrong if you head to the docklands. According to website Kelowna, these have been revamped and are now very tourist-friendly, with lots of funky cafes in place of the dilapidated warehouses of previous years.
