Amsterdam to host National Restaurant Week
Posted in: Travel

I love food. It's one of the best things about being alive (aside from travel and having a nice long sleep, of course) and is also one of the greatest reasons for heading to a new town or city, as you never know what culinary delights you will be faced with upon your arrival. If you share this opinion, a stay in an Amsterdam hostel could be a good idea this March, as the region is hosting this year's Netherlands' National Restaurant Week.
Doesn't that sound absolutely delicious? A whole seven days dedicated to gastronomy! I can't imagine anything much better. If you're planning on taking advantage of this, make sure you book your tickets to coincide with the start of March, as - according to EarthTimes - more than 1,200 eateries are taking part in this magical event.
It shouldn't even cost you all that much of your hard-earned cash, with a three-course meal at lunchtime being priced at 20 (£17.39) or so. And if you're still hungry after that, then an evening repast will set you back 25. Fantastic! You'll also be given the chance to vote on the meal you've munched on and, at the end of the festival, the best restaurant of them all will be chosen according to its popularity.
And if you've got the money to spare, consider staying on in Amsterdam for a few weeks so that you can check out the special flower market that is coming to the area on April 2nd. The news source recently brought this to my attention and there's a flower parade, hundreds of stalls and marching bands that should keep you thoroughly entertained.
