One my favourites was the Rijksmuseum, which even looks amazing from the outside before you go in and see the plethora of collections. Wowzers, there are a lot!
My particular favourite was The Masterpieces it speaks for itself really doesn't it? There were products of pure genius on display and I can't see how anybody could visit the great Dutch city without taking in this site.
And individuals with an Apple iPhone can even check out a different painting from the centre everyday if they download the app how technology has changed. It's crazy!
Just down the road there is the Van Gogh museum and I thought I had used a lot of superlatives to describe the Rijksmuseum. This place was something else. It is so big they had to build two buildings to fit everything in! And if you are popping down to the area at night, make sure you check out the Exhibition Wing it looks amazing when it is lit up.
Aki Anastasiou, a Talk Radio broadcaster in New York speaking to Times Live, seems to be another culture vulture like myself and says Amsterdam museums are "amazing". But his one wish for the city is that there are even more cycle lanes. There were loads of bikes there Aki!
"People should get on public transport and travel around the city. It's a great city to walk around or cycle around," he said.
