If you want to make the most of your time in the country then booking a cheap hostel in Amsterdam would be one of the first things I'd think about doing when planning a trip there.
I would advise starting off with the Van Gogh attraction as it is jam-packed full of interesting things which can be appreciated by people of all ages.
One of the exhibitions that is currently on, until August 29th, is Bedroom secrets: Restoration of a masterpiece, which enables visitors to read all about how the famous artist went about creating his legendary piece The Bedroom in 1888.
Currently, the painting is being restored and will not be available to check out in the museum.
But there is much more to have a look at when on a city break in the district, so you might want to ensure you reserve an Amsterdam hostel that is fairly central.
Sandra Ishmael, head of press and PR at Holland - the brand of the Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions - reckons the Dutch capital is "renowned for its welcoming nature, the abundance of canals and museums, 17th century houses and its relaxed atmosphere".
She recommends going on a city tour by boat or even having a look around the Jordaan district, which is full of restaurants and boutiques, for things to do in the area.
