The event will no doubt be a joy to see first hand, so it may be best to book up a Berlin hostel so not to avoid disappointment.
Taking place over the dates of October 13th until 24th, the Festival of Lights show takes up a large chunk of the city's autumn activities, yet for all what is set to be on display, even that length of time may be a struggle to contain everything.
It is the sixth time that the event will come to the capital of Germany and will see well-known landmarks in the city been lit up a different shade to what the buildings are used to over the majority of the year.
Included in these displays is the Brandenburg Gate, Alexander Platz's TV Tower and the boulevard of Unter den Linden, which will be getting these effects courtesy of over 50 different laser illuminations all told around the city, which will make for a wonderful sight for anyone staying in a cheap hostel in Berlin.
The skyline will also be lit with colour, too, thanks to an array of firework displays that are planned for the duration of the event, as well as a music-themed night held on October 22nd called Jazz At The Ministergardens.
Colours ranging from bright shades of green and red to elegant tones of gold and silver greeted crowds who turned out to see the 2009 Festival of Lights and provided a joyous scene for Berlin, with more of the same promised for this year as well.
