Buffalo Wing Festival could be ideal excuse to book a New York hostel
The National Buffalo Wing Festival might be a great excuse for someone to book a cheap hostel in New York and spend a weekend checking out the activities.
Food fanatics will be at home at the event, which features competitions such as the amateur wing eating championship, as well as the "ridiculously hot" chicken wing eating contest which will see ten people challenge for the title.
Individuals who want to reserve a New York hostel close to the festival site should do so near the Coca Cola field in Buffalo.
The extravaganza takes place from September 4th to the 5th and there is more to it than just food with a host of entertainment features lined up.
These include an Elvis tribute by Terry Buchwald, who is a well-known recording artist from western New York, according to the event's website.
Film fans may recognise that the inspiration for the festival was taken from movie Osmosis Jones, which starred comic actor Bill Murray.
In the flick, the character tries to attend the Super Bowl of junk food - the National Buffalo Wing Festival, which was non-existent at the time.
But this was turned into reality in 2002 and the showpiece has since drawn media attention from CNN, The Today Show, the Travel Channel and The Food Network among others.
In addition, it has raised more than $125,000 (£81,000) for western New York charities.
