Apparently, lots of people have been doing this over the last few days, with - according to News.Scotsman.com - thousands heading to the city for the beginning of the Christmas festivities. These include a Winter Wonderland and the Edinburgh Wheel, which have proven to be big attractions.
And who could forget about the Christmas markets? Admittedly, most towns host these but Edinburgh's appear to be something special, with traders stating that more shoppers than ever have been out and about making gift purchases and downing the odd glass of mulled wine. What's helped this a bit has been the clearing of tram work barriers that prevented people from going across Princes Street which, merchants have claimed, has brought in more of the public.
So what are you waiting for? All these people can't be wrong. I suggest you hop on a plane, a train or even an automobile and get up to Edinburgh to take advantage of the Christmassy nature of the town.
And if you do have plans to visit Edinburgh for Hogmanay, you're sure to have a fantastic time as well. The full line up of entertainment was recently released and it looks fantastic - make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the torchlight procession, which has been enhanced by a new light and fireworks display at the end.
