According to Stuff, one of Amsterdam's greatest - and most famous - museums has its own outlet in the airport, which is great news for all those backpackers and others who absolutely love to take in a bit of culture while away. What could be better than stepping off the plane and being faced with history immediately? And certainly, there's no better way of whiling away the hours in an airport that would have otherwise been spent propping up the bar or reading a terrible book.
Fans of art and culture should keep a weather eye open for the Rijksmuseum that apparently houses a little collection of golden age works and comes with a temporary exhibition that changes a couple of times each year, great news for all those who love Amsterdam and are constantly returning.
Of course, there's a lot to do outside the airport too, so getting sidetracked and spending all your vacation in one building is not advised. If you're a particularly active creature, renting a bike could be the best way of seeing all there is to see in Amsterdam. Askmen.com recently said that this city is the best place for cyclists to get around, a fact that hasn't escaped the residents, 40 per cent of whom get to work by bicycle.
