The Hamburg International Short Film Festival is nearly upon us - it starts on June 1st and runs until the 7th - so you haven't got much time to book that flight and start getting excited.
It has been running for 25 years now - beginning in 1985 - and is designed to "accentuate the independence of short films as an art form and to create a special environment for them", according to its website.
And I would certainly agree with this. The year I went there were some truly magnificent productions on and it taught me about all walks of life. I didn't just attend the action movies, it was good to branch out and experience something a little different that you may not usually watch.
As an Indiana Jones fan - my favourite film is Raiders of the Lost Ark - I was up for watching any type of motion picture which took my fancy and there seem to be a few crackers in the making this year too.
When I was reading about the event recently, one of the films that caught my eye was 80 Degrees East of Birdland, which is about a touring jazz band from the US who lose their way and end up at an old man's farm. I would certainly be checking that out if I was going this year!
