It is great news for those looking to snap up a room in some of the cheap hostels in London, as the country has been able to hold on to its highest ever ranking for the second year running. USA, Germany and France recorded the first, second and third spots respectively.
The Nation Brand Index interviewed 20,000 adults in a range of locations around the world and then compiled the list of 50 countries which have proven desirable.
People considering booking up a cheap London hostel will also be pleased to know that the country has held on to its fifth place standing as the most desirable tourism destination, as well as placing fourth for being 'rich in historic buildings and monuments' and featuring a 'vibrant city life and urban attractions'.
Sandie Dawe, chief executive at VisitBritain, believes the standings show that the UK is an appealing place to visit, even when other countries are pushing their attractions more now.
She explained: "With more governments recognising tourism as a driver of growth and ramping up their international marketing it is striking that our ratings are remaining steady."
A key area featuring prominently for those looking to rent some cheap hostels in London is the amount of sport coming to the UK's capital, including the ATP World Tour Finals in November for tennis fans, plenty of Champions League action from Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Arsenal and, of course, the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.
