Nim Singh, media and public relations manager at the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC), gave the recommendation, pointing out that with snow already falling on the resorts, fans of the sport can book some cheap Montreal hostels and enjoy the activities on offer as soon as possible.
That is because the eastern province of Quebec, Canada, where Montreal is located, is just one of the places where skiing can be participated in. It has been advertised even more as a result of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games taking place in that resort and others across the country.
Ms Singh also pointed out that the east coast is only six hours away from the UK on some flights, meaning that it will not take long for those snapping up some cheap hostels in Montreal to get onto the slopes and pull their skis on.
She also explained: "The locals are English speaking, very friendly and hospitable – the resounding message we hear back from all visitors is about how genuinely friendly everyone is. The fact that it is English speaking means there are also no issues with learning to ski."
The recommendations came after the CTC revealed that it is to launch a marketing campaign to try to get ski fans into the country over the next six months.
Some factors involved in this scheme include running a series of social media ski clips to garner interest for those who use these programs, as well as partnering up with resorts across Canada, including those in Quebec.
