And please, take some photos and send them me as I'm having to be a bit of a sad sack, staying at home to save up for my world tour, which I hope to be embarking on soon. (Although, obviously, when I say world tour, I mean as much of God's green earth as I can afford, so I'll probably only make it to Canada before having to turn back.)
Anyhoo, as I was saying - if this is the first you've heard of this particular event then let me educate you somewhat. It's taking place between the 21st and 24th - so you'll have to pull your socks up a bit if you want to make it over to the city - and will see around 5,200 performers hit the streets during the programme, with 1.4 million people heading to Berlin to watch. Fantastic!
It's been going for several years now and the organisers said this: "The Carnival of Cultures is open to everybody and all forms of cultural expression. It is regarded as a platform for a proud expression of hybrid cultural identities, containing traditional and contemporary elements." Oh, I wish I was going to be there.
And if you want to be especially involved in the whole shebang, you can apply to perform on one of the stages or to take part in the street parade.
