The event starts on June 17th until the 19th and there are two sections of the prestigious Spanish music exposition which should keep you nice and busy throughout the few days in the Catalan city.
Sonar by day is at the Centre of Contemporary Culture and the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona, where you will be able to take in exhibitions of various genres of music, as well as view conferences and screenings.
When I went a few years ago this section was much better than I thought it would be and hopefully they have gone an extra step this year by improving it even more.
Of course, Sonar by night is what everyone is there to see though. This is where the action happens. I watched Goldfrapp a few years back and they seriously blew my mind it was unreal.
That was amazing, but the Spaniards have really upped their game by the looks of it this year by booking some unbelievable acts to wow the crowds. These include Dizzee Rascal and The Chemical Brothers, as well as Hot Chip. After seeing this line-up, I would absolutely love to go back this year and party.
They have really treated people in 2010 because for the first time ever there is more than just the day and night options at the event, because there is also another Sonar festival taking place simultaneously in A Coruña, Galicia.
