How to enjoy Christmas in London
Hooray, then, for website Visit London, which has kindly set out an agenda for all those on holiday over the Christmas period. They've also helpfully posted up a countdown to the big event (currently ticking merrily away at 45 days, eight hours, 39 minutes and 20 seconds) so there's no chance you'll miss it if you're prone to forgetting about time differences.
This well-timed webpage means you don't even have to put pen to paper in order to make your own schedule of events - all you need to do is save it to your favourites on your browser and hey presto! An instant tour guide. My favourites on the list include Ripley's Believe it Or Not Museum, which can be found in Piccadilly. Not surprisingly, most things are closed on Christmas Day itself but this is open both then and on Boxing Day so hook yourself up with a tour!
If you don't fancy museum-hopping, Christmas Day in London is also famed for Hyde Park's Serpentine swim, where members of the club dive into the Serpentine Lake and take part in a 100-yard race. Spectators are welcome but - brrrrr!
