Insider tips for the scatty backpacker
Not everyone can be the organised, efficient type, this I know all too well. Every time I'm about to head off around the world, I have to make a list, check it twice and then get my long-suffering girlfriend to go through everything I've done, just in case I've forgotten something vital. Like travel insurance. (Trust me, it's been done before.) Luckily for people such as myself, Priority Pass - the airport lounge programme - have questioned their frequent flyer members and compiled a handy how-to guide for all those who don't want to pack and just want to back.

Adequate insurance is, unsurprisingly, near the top of the list. Even if you're all about the cheap travel, it definitely makes sense to be prepared. If you jetset a lot, Priority Pass people recommend that you get an annual policy, as long as you price compare first. Following that, they advise you to consider any medication you might need - which can easily slip your mind if you've not been stranded in a foreign country with no access to a first aid kit before. A spare pair of glasses is essential as well, apparently, unless you're happy to bumble about in a bit of a haze for the entirety of your holiday.

Getting over jetlag is a tricky one as there are many different cures for the problem - the most common advice proffered by Priority Pass customers is to wind your watch to your destination's timezone and start acting as if that actually is the time.

Finally - and perhaps the most important for all us backpacking braves - save cash abroad by checking your bank's policies before you go. They might charge for overseas usage or employ anti-fraud techniques which mean you can't use your card at all. Imagine the horror!

Hope that's been of some help.
