According to the news source, it's a great one for artistic types as there are lots of spots already established in the city where great masterpieces can be sought out and - very excitingly - big New York names L&M Arts and Matthew Marks are going to be opening galleries on LA's sunny streets some time in 2010. If you get there before this happens though, don't despair as there's still the Blum & Poe, which opened in October and Chinatown's Thomas Solomon's art space to check out.
There's also a plethora of local museums for the discerning traveller to peruse, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, which I would highly recommend as it's celebrating its 30th anniversary and is hosting a massive exhibition of works from its post-war collection.
And if you book your Los Angeles hostel in October, even better as the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is going to be displaying a Renzo Piano design. Good times, people!
What's more, if you're an Elvis fan, you're definitely in luck as the Grammy Museum is collaborating with the Smithsonian Institution Travelling Exhibition Service, the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery and the Govinda Gallery to hold a show dedicated to the King, featuring lots of photographs of the great one aged 21.
