Make sure that you're standing in Saint Mark's Square on December 31st at approximately five to midnight and seal the end of 2009 with a big, fat communal kiss. Imagine thousands of people locking lips at the same time - doesn't that sound magical?
And that's not all that's going on at this time. The event starts off at 22:00 local time, with music from special guest star Principe Maurice, who invented a new form of performance art that includes the use of contact lenses and special costumes. Ska-J is also going to be in attendance, a group that plays afro-Jamaican jazz and involves saxophones, guitar, bass, drums, trombone and voice.
After that and the collective smooch, there's Bellini toast for all at 23:00 local time, followed by a fantastic fireworks display at 00:15 local time. By half past, the square itself is turned into a massive, makeshift dancefloor with tunes provided by DJ Maci.
I think it sounds wicked. Much better than the traditional house party, at any rate, although I believe I have unfortunately committed myself to one of these already, so will not be able to attend this amazing Venice gig.
