Klaus Lohmann, UK & Ireland director for the German National Tourist Office, declared that many of the Berlin hostels are of a decent quality.
He added: "What we also get a lot of comments on is the friendliness of the people. Many do go out of their way to try some English with their visitors."
And those considering a visit to the country may like to taste some of the local delicacies, which Mr Lohmann recommends.
"The 16 federal states all have their own specialties and sausages and beer taste different everywhere you go, not to mention the great fish dishes on the coast," he noted.
So booking a hostel in Berlin could be a wise move after he pointed out the city is "definitely one of the hippest" places in Europe.
People who want designer shopping outlets and world class restaurants and clubs aplenty could be right at home in the region, while there is a "buzzing" atmosphere and galleries too for those who are more interested in the culture side of things.
One event in particular that people may like to book a cheap hostel in Berlin for could be the city's Festival 2010, which is taking place on September 10th with top acts such as Fatboy Slim, Hot Chip and Editors set to wow the crowds.
