Muddy Olympians prepare for battle
If you're already pining for the return of the Olympics then fear not - an event just for you is taking place in Germany this summer.

Well, maybe not quite. But I reckon the Mud Olympics sounds pretty fun!

That's right, Brunsbuttel - a town on the River Elbe - hosts the event each year, so if you're staying in hostels in the area why not check it out?

According to Whatsonwhen, if you contact the organsisers in advance you can actually register to take part in muddy activities like skiing and soccer.

It all takes place on August 30th and if you don't actually fancy splashing (is that the right term?) around, you can just watch.

They obviously don't take the whole thing quite as seriously as the 'real' Olympians do, because prizes include things like funniest team name and best fans.

For those staying in hostels in Hamburg this month, Hamburg Harley Days begins on June 26th and is expected to attract the wonderful sight of 50,000 European bikers!
