New York's HiFi is a great night out
I've been poring over an article in the Guardian that came out over the weekend and features the opinions of authors, musicians and DJs regarding the best places to go for a night out on the town around the world. Today, I've decided to let you know what the lead singer of the Hold Steady, Craig Finn, thinks is good in the way of entertainment while in New York.
Here's the tip: It's HiFi, which he believes to be the "best rock'n'roll bar" that the city can boast. If you do decide to brave it, you'll find that the venue is decorated with many empty album cases and comes equipped with a wonderful juke box which, as Finn says, is "hands-down the best" that can be found in New York.
I love a juke box, I do, although I often find that I run into trouble because I'm constantly feeding my money into the machine and only playing what I want to listen to. If you don't share these things, trouble can arise! Be warned, then, because this one apparently has a tracklist of some 3,000 albums, so you could be there a while and spend all your holiday cash in one fell swoop.
"There is a fantastically affordable happy hour and a great local crowd," Finn concluded. To take advantage of cheap drinks, be there from between 16:00 and 20:00 local time.
