Pop Life to be housed in Hamburg
Posted in: Travel

If you're a fan of art and can't get enough of Andy Warhole's amazing creations, but also like to travel around the world, booking a hostel in Hamburg could be a great idea. Apparently, an exhibition dedicated to the artist, entitled Pop Life, is moving from its base in the Tate Modern in London to the Hamburger Kunsthalle early in 2010.
Art Daily brought this to my attention and those who travel to Hamburg in February may like to head to the gallery, where they will be able to take in some of the great one's works, as well as those by the likes of Tracey Emin, Jeff Koons, Martin Kippenberger and Damien Hirst.
If you're more of a fan of Martin Kippenberger, then you don't stand to be disappointed either as there are several rooms in the museum dedicated to this artist, as well as some early pieces by Gisela Stelly Augstein, a filmmaker who Kippenberger himself was a devotee of.
What's more, early endeavours by Sarah Lucas and Tracey Emin are to be featured, as is a new installation that has been specifically commissioned for this event by Takashi Murakami that can be found in one of the last rooms at the show.
And if you've got some free time, don't forget to head to Hamburg's Minatur Wunderland. I mentioned it in a recent blog post and think it sounds fantastic. It stands to be completed in 2015 but if you visit it now, you'll still see lots of tiny renditions of famous landmarks, such as the Grand Canyon and the Alps.
