To be honest, I can't think of a better way to get around than by bicycle. There's a sense of freedom in it and I love feeling the wind rustling through my hair as I go. What's more, it affords you a greater chance of getting to know a new city or town, as you have to pay more attention to where you are than if you were just sitting passively in a taxi, letting someone else do all the thinking.
If you're of the same opinion, then you'll definitely be pleased to hear that Deutsche Bahn - the rail operator throughout Germany - has approximately 6,000 bikes on offer for tourists and residents alike, so the chances of you not being able to get your hands on one and exercise your little legs while checking out the sights and sounds of Berlin are highly unlikely.
While in the area, don't forget to pedal your way to Wild At Heart either, a favourite haunt of the Flaming Stars' Max Decharne. He recently recommended this pub in an article for the Guardian, calling it a "whisky-soaked, no-nonsense rock 'n' roll joint". I'm there!
