Readers and writers will want to book their hostels in Edinburgh between the 14th and 30th of the month to ensure they have front row seats at some of the events taking place, which include chats by Ron Butlin and Regi Claire, A L Kennedy, Andrea Levy and John Burnside, all of whom will be revealing details about their poetry and prose as part of the Elsewhere: New Writing Commissions project.
However, this isn't all that's going on during the two weeks and people may like to rouse themselves from their Edinburgh hostels in time to make it to Unbound, a mini-festival that encourages aspiring novelists to attempt new and different approaches to putting pen to paper. It begins each night at 21:00 BST and could also see other forms of entertainment put on, such as "music, performance and a large does of the unknown" - or so say the organisers anyway.
And that's by no means all there is to the festival either - Story Shop 2010, hosted by the Edinburgh Unesco City of Literature Trust, is also asking for emerging literary greats to read their scribblings at the fiesta's Bookshop. Who knows? You could even leave with a book deal!
