Over 200 ships and boats of varying degrees of size (dinghy versus yacht) are heading to Dartmouth Harbour to compete in more than 15 races and, even if you're not the captain of your own vessel, you'll get to see some cool stuff. A Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane will also be taking to the skies to commemorate the Battle of Britain and there will be some aerobatic displays by the famed Red Arrows. Things may also get a little bit hardcore for the spectators with demonstrations by the Black Knights Army Parachute Team.
If you're not up for anything too strenuous and you just want to chill, however, that's not a problem at all and the outlying countryside is really beautiful with lots of quaint houses nestled against the hillsides, cropping up when you least expect them. The first regatta in Dartmouth was in 1822 so you'll be taking part in history if you do decide to go.
