See a different side to Paris
I've got the answer! Listen to the words of Julie Blakley, who wrote in Tips From the T-List that walking around the city can be a great way to find some of your own favourite places. "Some of my most pleasant times spent in Paris have been meandering the streets and discovering the hidden courtyards, tucked away parks and best spots," she said, calling on jet setters to seek out their own.
That said, she has given up some of her secrets, which could be fun to discover when staying in hostels in Paris. Try on the 12th Arrondissement for size, perhaps, as this can be a great way of seeing how real Parisians get on with their day-to-day lives and isn't a place that you'll find a lot of tourists.
Or the Belleville Quartier could be a good one, which Ms Blakley describes as "quaint" and "the perfect place to experience Paris's rich diversity". Don't forget to check out the outdoor market on the Boulevard de Belleville, which is open on Tuesdays and Fridays between 07:00 local time and 14:00 local time.
It could be fun to get on your bike while in Paris as well. The Oregonian's Karen Pate recently used the services of Bike About Tours to get about on holiday and it only cost £26.62, which is great for those on a strict vacation budget.
