Stockholm's Tudor Arms is the best in the world
And now I know where I'll be going the next time I hit Stockholm town - The Tudor Arms in Ostermalm, which has just been voted the greatest pub in the world at the Best of British awards.
Speaking to website the Local, landlord of this fine establishment Chris Billowes said: "I think we won as a result of almost 40 years of flying the flag for the UK in this part of the world. Fantastic."
I hear you, Chris. Not that I'm from that neck of the woods but I'd love to go and sup a pint or three at this old school-style UK local that warded off competition from the likes of Bangkok's the Bull's Head, Cape Town's The Royal Oak, Hong Kong's Caregie's and Sid's Pub in Kuala Lumpur. (Having said that, now I have a long list of places to go and drink in when I'm doing the rounds on my world tour.)
But before I do, it's to Stockholm I go which, incidentally, I'm somewhat enamoured with at the moment because I'm on the verge of finishing the third part of the Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson - all about crime, murder, intrigue, espionage, you name it - and I can't wait to find out what happens at the end. Watch this space!
