According to the S Pellegrino World's 100 Best Restaurants (imaginatively titled!), central Sydney's Tetsuya's - which has appeared in the top 50 since the start of the compilation back in 2002 - featured in 38th place. It's a refurbished site that happens to be heritage-listed and boasts private dining rooms, a bar and an eatery that overlooks a Japanese garden.
But - there are more to choose from so don't make up your mind just yet. Quay, which you'll find on Sydney Harbour, rocketed in at number 27, climbing 19 places from 2009 and has a chef that is apparently exceedingly well known for his cutting edge munchables. Even more interestingly, the premises also has its very own organic farm, so if you're a foodie with a conscience, this could be the place for you.
However, eating isn't the only thing to do while down under and you'll be able to get your giggle on while sampling Sydney's delights this month and next as well, because the city is playing host to a Comedy Festival until May 9th, with performances from Mark "Chopper" Read, Ross Noble, Tommy Tiernan and Julian Clary among others.
