New research conducted by the country's national tourism organisation VisitEngland has revealed a rather pitiful statistic of those poor, downtrodden Brits - apparently, 56 per cent of them feel that their working lives are dull and that they are stuck in the same repetitive routine. Poor things. But, it gets worse - 66 per cent of them don't think they make the most of the weekend when it comes around. I can understand that sometimes, in a country where it rains a lot, people might be less inclined to come up with entertainment ideas that involve going outside but hey! I say strap on a pair and hit the outdoors with a vengeance.
VisitEngland agrees with me as well, as they say that one of the best ways to deal with the workday blues is to head off on a daycation and transform your free time into a mini holiday. Further statistics from the tourism body indicate that 82 per cent of people feel much happier when they've been out for the day and 69 per cent when they have something to look forward to.
The VisitEngland website even offers lots of ideas for what to do with your day off so there's really no excuse. A couple of hours spent at Drayton Manor, for instance, may very well put a spring in your step with 100 rides to choose from, as well as an award-winning zoo.
