Time to take a trip to Sri Lanka
You might think that a conflict in any country is likely to put people off paying a visit, but Sri Lanka has continued to enjoy visitors from all around the world in recent years.

That's according to Sri Lanka Tourism anyway, which says that people have continued to recognise the country as one of the most "charming and fascinating" places in the world.

So good news for those planning some backpacker travel has come thanks to the end of the war with the Tamil Tigers.

The south-Asian country is now planning to create a new image to encourage people to pay a visit - and perhaps stay in hostels - to explore its sacred cities and "lush jungles".

A campaign called Making of the Small Miracle is to be launched and I reckon anyone embarking on backpacker travel in Asia should keep an eye out to see if they fancy what's on offer, as it could definitely be worth a look.

Cricket fans in particular might want to check it out, as the season is well underway and the sport is pretty popular in Sri Lanka.
