Venice family holidays are a good idea
Those in their 20s who are yet to have children often think that once the babies arrive, their own youth is done and dusted, all sense of freedom - to be able to up sticks and head off wherever they choose at the drop of the proverbial hat - has just disappeared with a poof and the squeal of a newborn bub. But that's simply not true, one journalist has claimed. Families planning holidays with their kids may like to consider booking a room in a hostel in Venice, as the city is apparently a great place to visit, even with young ones in tow.

The Daily Mail's Wendy Holden observed that there's lots to do in Venice, particularly stuff that's "free [and] off-the-cuff", such as the Rialto fish market. Apparently, her children were intrigued by all the crabs - still alive - and the workers preparing the scallops for purchase.

According to Italy Heaven, these markets are open during the week from Monday to Saturday, although the fish section is closed on a Monday. They can be found on the Grand Canal in the San Polo district.

Ms Holden recommended that those trying to save a few pennies at mealtimes might like to head over to Guidecca, where there are cheap and relatively quiet cafes with amazing views of the city.

And for great entertainment that everyone will enjoy, she stated that "cycling on the Lido is a must for families". If you've got suitably small enough kids as well, there's no need for them to struggle along on their own bikes, as you can rent out ones with seats attached to the back.
