I recommend - and so does London publication Time Out - the big smoke's Old Truman Brewery which has been magically transformed into a "one stop Christmas shopping experience", or so Time Out says. Its walls are choc-a-bloc full with independent brands, designer sales and gifts markets - the only problem I can foresee is that, if you're not in the city for a very long time, you won't have enough hours in the day to see all that is on offer.
If you're there on a Sunday, don't forget to check out the UpMarket, which is home to more than 140 stalls. You'll find fashion, crafts, music - in fact, you'll find everything your heart desires and more. And if your family are foodies, it has a renowned stretch of gastronomic stores, where you can get Japanese sweets, Indian sweet meats and all sorts of other yummy stuff.
But if you've not got a London trip planned until next year, don't despair. Hopefully you'll be heading to the area in August as you'll be able to catch the first ever London Fringe Festival, which plans to make use of all sorts of West End venues for the performances.
