Where to eat in Edinburgh
Now, no doubt you're sitting on your bed in your hostel in Edinburgh, thinking: "Well, surely I can just find the nearest Pizza Hut" and yes, you could do that but sticking to a budget is one of the first rules of backpacking and chain restaurants can prove expensive after a while.
Hence this blog, courtesy of Itchy Edinburgh, which has brought to light a few of the best places to line your tummies that the city has to offer. Read on, dear friend, read on and never go hungry again!
Apparently, Lochrin Terrace has the Coconut Grove on its street, the very name of which should surely strike cheer into the hearts of all travellers, even on the coldest of nights. According to the guide, fish dishes, steak and fajitas all feature on the menu and all are "exceptional" so I'd make this your first port of call, if you're in the area.
If that doesn't float your boat and you're more one to eat up your greens, David Bann's Vegetarian Restaurant on St Mary's Street may be the perfect choice. Watch out for tasty mash, healthy pasta and proper chips.
And if you do happen to be staying in an Edinburgh hostel on Guy Fawkes Night, by the way, don't forget to head down to the Meadowbank Sports Centre to take in their fireworks display. Local radio star Big Al will also be there so it's sure to be top-notch affair.
