It could be a good idea to reserve a cheap hostel in Hamburg for the event - which takes place on September 30th until October 9th.
The festival has announced the first motion pictures it plans to show - it wants to broadcast 140 national and international films, according to Albert Wiederspiel, the festival director.
He added: "Glamour, new discoveries and surprises are guaranteed. Each genre will be represented. Hamburg can count on it."
One of the movies that will be on display is Chicas, by French playwrite Yasmina Reza, while A Serbian Film - which is directed Srdjan Spasojevic - is also set to be available to watch at the extravaganza.
The event is celebrating its 18th year and will take place in a range of locations around the city, including the Abaton, the Cinemaxx Dammtor, the Passage and the Metropolis.
So, those who thinking of attending might like to book a Hamburg hostel near to one of these venues to be close-by.
In addition, the festival has a Three Colours Green theme this year to replicate the city being the European Green Capital in 2011.
One of the motion pictures which follows this topic is Solutions locales pour un desordre global - directed by Coline Serreau.
According to the organisers, it "tries to make a connection between local initiatives and the globalised world. Serreau shows people who are brave enough to look for alternatives despite ecological, financial or political crises".
But those planning a trip to Hamburg earlier might like to check out the German Open Tennis Championships, which begin tomorrow (July 16th) and last until July 25th.
