Fans of the big screen should be sure to snap up some cheap Stockholm hostels too, as they could get to see some of the rising names in the movie world having their first real shot at fame at the event, which takes place between November 17th and 28th 2010.
Hailed as "one of the leading competitive film festivals in northern Europe", a number of competitions will be taking place over the period, including one devoted to directors who have only made their first, second or third movie in their careers, as well as the main event giving competitors to take away the prestigious prize of a 7.3-kilogram bronze horse.
There will also be dates dedicated to the short films, tribute retrospectives and both the US independent and Asian cinemas to make sure that those who come along after finding a cheap Stockholm hostel will have something to interest and entertain them.
Already confirmed for the event will be a showing of the hit TV programme This Is England 86, which looks to follow the lives of the characters first made famous in the 2006 blockbuster film This Is England, where everything from poverty, sexual abuse, love and violence will all be covered in an eye-opening account.
As further celebration, the 21st edition of the event will also be the 20th anniversary of the festival in the city, which was first set up by a pair of Swedish film fans in 1990, who gained a lot of media interest when they got in touch with the famous Cannes Festival in the hope of setting up a similar event, but just a little closer to home.
Since putting on the event, Stockholm has welcomed a host of famous figures in the big screen world, including Dennis Hopper and Quentin Tarantino, to name but a couple.
