But one of the best things about London hostels may be that they can act as a fantastic base from which to explore surrounding towns and cities while on backpacking adventures, particularly as transport links are so comprehensive.
For those of you wondering where you might explore, why not check out Bournemouth? It has been named as the best holiday destination in the UK following a Virgin Money Travel Insurance survey relating to 66 different options.
Brighton, Portsmouth, Scarborough and London itself were also in the top five, so there are plenty of options available to you. Peter Hampton, director of the British Resorts and Destinations Association, reckons Bournemouth's popularity is no surprise, since it offers something for everybody - as is also the case for the other resorts in the top ten.
"There's a lot there; there's shows, there's theatres, there's entertainment, there's a fantastic seven miles of beach," he said. "So it's a big resort [that] puts an awful lot of effort in and has a lot to offer."
However, if you prefer to stay in the big smoke, London hostels are the choice for you - as the poll found that it has the best tourist attractions.
